Our Playground

Our playground is the BEST - all Kompan equipment.  The sand and water table is very popular - lots of opportunity to explore, experiment, create, and just plain get MESSY!  We even had rolling hills formed in the playground for tumbling activities, hiding, and ball play.  The tricycle path gets plenty of traffic, and the children love to pretend in the play house.

Our playground is designed to be a place for a child to learn, explore, and stretch their imagination and should be considered as an outdoor classroom. Teachers must supervise children at all times and be actively involved in extending the children’s learning. Being alert and continually monitoring the playground is essential. Please do not engage in long conversations with other teachers or parents that will distract your attention away from the children.

Children may be taken outdoors when the temperature is over 35 degrees and the wind chill is not below 20 degrees, and it is not raining. Limit outside playtime during the summer on ozone days and during high temperatures. We have outside water fountains to accommodate our children's continual need for water during active playtimes. Take advantage of the covered patios and extend learning outdoors. Take care of the doors being left open on extreme temperature days. When weather does not permit us to go outside, the children will be able to use their large muscles indoors in our multipurpose room.

All of the equipment is made specifically for small hands and bodies.  Our NUMBER ONE priority is to make sure that our children feel safe and secure at Smart Start.
