Our Philosophy

Every child is a unique person, with their own interests, learning style, growth timetable, and culture.  When given the time, space, and opportunity to interact in a meaningful environment, a child can construct new ideas and link them to existing knowledge.

"Nothing without joy!"

-Loris Malaguzzi, Founder of Reggio Schools

Goals

While our philosophy is the foundation of everything we do, the following goals describe what we need to do in order to support our philosophy in everyday practice.

Environment

The learning environment will be unhurried, developing each child's intellect while resisting the  inclination to increase academic pressures.

Security

Children will feel safe, secure, and accepted.

Self Esteem

Children will develop and expand in area of self worth and social competence.

Knowledge

Children will be given the opportunity to construct knowledge through repeated experiences involving people and materials.

Development

Children will be supported in terms of both their actual development and their potential.

Responsibility

Children will develop responsibility for their immediate and personal environment.

Interest

The content of the curriculum will be relevant, engaging and meaningful to the children and be developed by both the teacher and the children.

Ability

Curriculum objectives will respect each child's individuality, and be realistic and attainable according to each child's intellectual, emotional and physical abilities.

Emotion

Children will develop and expand their ability to express, represent, and understand thoughts, feelings and experiences of self and others.

Critical Thinking

Children will develop and expand their ability to make decisions and solve problems.

Assessment

Children will be evaluated as they "authentically" engage in concrete, meaningful tasks that parallel the curriculum.

Community

The center will maintain a working relationship with Coppell Independent School District (CISD) Kindergarten teachers in order to provide the children with a smooth transition into the CISD Kindergarten Program.
