About Smart Start

Smart Start Early Childhood Education Center was established in January of 2000. Smart Start is a 6,500 square foot state of the art facility located next to local Coppell ISD schools and the nature trail. In addition to its clean, safe, well maintained, secure, and desirable location, Smart Start also was specifically designed to meet the needs of Coppell's engaged & active parents and their children ages 6 weeks to five years old. The school maintains an environment that reflects the lives, interest, and high cognition of the children.  The owner's many years of experience in early childhood, award winning teaching, and professional relationships with the world's most renowned early childhood educators helped to create this ultimate environment for the children.

Smart Start is considered the best preschool in Coppell by local educators. Several local university early childhood education program professors and students (TWU [comments here], UNT, Brookhaven, Eastfield College) visit and invite Smart Start's owner to lecture. Smart Start was chosen as a school for the filming of Barney's educational video clips of children. D Magazine named Smart Start as one of the recommended school of Dallas in December 2003. Currently Smart Start is referred to in the early childhood book, Designs for Living and Learning, by the renowned educators Margie Carter and Deb Curtis. Smart Start teachers were invited to lecture at the National NAEYC conference in Anaheim, CA. Project work was the focus of our lecture. We were very excited to take part in the largest early childhood conference in the world.

Early childhood researchers and local universities high interests are also due to this qualitative learning approach. Smart Start uses the Emergent Curriculum as espoused by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and used by the Reggio Emilia schools located in the township of Reggio Emilia, Italy  (widely regarded as the best preschool in the world).

This high quality program is maintained by the collaboration of its dedicated teachers, parents, and owners.
